TERO.007 – ALM Methodology Is Officially Ready to Receive Projects

Tero Carbon announces that, following the conclusion of the public consultation period, the TERO.007 – Agricultural Land Management (ALM) Methodology, version 1.0, is now formally approved to receive, register, and certify projects under the Tero Carbon Certification Program.

The public consultation process, conducted between November 6, 2025, and January 5, 2026, reinforces Tero Carbon’s institutional commitment to transparency, technical rigor, and qualified market participation.

The TERO.007 – ALM methodology was developed in co-authorship by Hdom Consultoria Ambiental and the Center for Nuclear Energy in Agriculture of the University of São Paulo (CENA/USP), combining well-established expertise in carbon methodologies with scientific excellence applied to the Brazilian agricultural context. This collaboration provides the methodology with a high level of technical robustness, a solid scientific foundation, and practical applicability across agricultural land management systems in Brazil.

In addition, the methodology is fully aligned with:

  • Current Brazilian legislation, including Law No. 15,042/2024 and Law No. 14,119/2021 (Brazilian Emissions Trading System – SBCE);
  • The Tero Program Technical Guidelines, particularly TC-DC.CER.003 (v1.2);
  • And international environmental integrity standards, such as ICROA and ICAO/CORSIA.

With the completion of this stage, Tero Carbon reaffirms its role as a leading Brazilian certification body, committed to environmental integrity, the credibility of certified assets, and the strengthening of the national carbon market—especially within the agricultural sector.

We invite project developers, consultants, and other market participants to review the methodology and begin submitting projects under the TERO.007 – ALM framework.

Launch of the TERO.007 – Agricultural Land Management (ALM) Methodology for Public Consultation

Tero Carbon is pleased to announce the start of the public consultation process for the new TERO.007 – Agricultural Land Management (ALM) methodology, version 1.0. The consultation opens on November 6, 2025 and will remain open for 30 days. We invite all AFOLU project developers, consultants, auditors, stakeholders, and other participants in the carbon market to take part in this important discussion and share their feedback and suggestions.

Context and Relevance

The TERO.007 methodology addresses the growing demand for high-quality technical standards aligned with the Brazilian agricultural context. A key highlight of this version is its co-authorship between Hdom Consultoria Ambiental and the Center for Nuclear Energy in Agriculture – University of São Paulo (CENA/USP).

Hdom is already well known for its leadership in the carbon methodologies sector — having developed TERO.001 – REDD+, TERO.002 – APD, TERO.003 – Carbon Stock in Forests, and TERO.006 – ARR — demonstrating its technical expertise in the certification of environmental assets.

Now, through this collaboration with CENA/USP, the methodology gains additional scientific strength.
CENA is a specialized institute within the University of São Paulo, with a long-standing record of excellence in research and development in agriculture, environmental sciences, and nuclear techniques applied to agri-environmental systems.

This partnership enhances Tero Carbon’s credibility and contributes to strengthening Brazil’s carbon market by providing a scientifically robust methodology tailored to local conditions.

What’s New

In addition to the release of TERO.007, we also announce that the Tero Carbon Program document “TC-DC.CER.003 – Technical Guidelines for Carbon Quantification in AFOLU Projects” has been updated to version 1.2. Among the main innovations is the introduction of the “Bayesian Methodology for Carbon Stock Quantification and Certification,” authored by Maria Gabriela da Silva Araújo and Luiz Antonio Martinelli (CENA/USP). This new approach enhances the robustness of carbon quantification in agricultural systems, ensuring better adaptation to local conditions.
