Overview
TERO.004 – Carbon Stock in Agrosilvopastoral System aims to generate environmental assets in projects that promote the removal, conservation, and preservation of carbon stocks in agroforestry systems throughout Brazilian territory. It incentivizes farmers who, through their agricultural activities, contribute to global climate balance.
The carbon stock of the project area will be periodically monitored for verification. Any verified increase in carbon stocks in the crops is considered Carbon Credit, calculated based on the surplus above the previously measured maximum stock.
Following the concept of Payment for Environmental Services (PES), the methodology provides co-benefits such as biodiversity conservation of biomes and sustainable development. In addition to maintaining carbon stocks in agricultural crops, silviculture is also recognized as a way to enhance biomass stock.
The methodology, in this initial version, focuses on coffee cultivation.
